Life is Like......

How would you finish the sentence, Life is like.......? I know a certain movie comes to mind and chocolate is involved somewhere in that sentence. But lately, based on the current condition of the world, I venture to say life is NOTHING like it used to be and certainly not like a box of chocolate or any kind of candy for that matter.
But hold up!! Let’s not get toooo negative here. Yes, it seems like the last two years felt like the world we knew had ended......isolated in our homes, no dining out, no movie date nights, no family hugs, aNO SHOPPING! Yikes! Was there life before COVID-19? Could there be life after?????

This is how I would complete the sentence; Life is like a choice between waking to face the day with fear and trepidation or waking with bold anticipation to conquer the day knowing you will have the victory. I have only recently made a decision to do the latter.

My husband and I made a decision in July, 2020 to move to Alaska....yes, in the middle of a pandemic, we donned our masks and flew from Vancouver, Washington to Alaska. Two daughters, 4 grandchildren and a “miracle” opportunity for my husband to continue working for his company remotely and from home, provided the motivation to conquer fear and doubt and plunge once more into what seemed like a pool with no visible signs of water. Faith, trust in the God we served, and jubilant cheer of delight from our children and grandchildren encouraged the dive. Free falling, abandoning all sense of reasoning, and seconds before landing, I not only felt the cool, refreshing splash of hope, I knew we were destined for this moment in time. A moment of purpose, a moment of belonging, a moment of joy, my heart felt full again.

It has been 2 years since our move. Another daughter and her family also moved to Alaska. We were able to purchase the home we were renting and even get a dog. Our six month old Sheepadoodle will definitely be in future posts. He has been an incredible addition to our family. We have been available to help our grandkids get to their designated sporting events for games and practices, assist our daughters in various ways whenever they needed assistance, we are making improvements to our home, and basically appreciating life the best we can. Alaska definitely teaches you to boldly step into living life.

I will close with one of my favorite scriptures in God's Word: Psalm 27:13
"I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living."

Look for the goodness, find your joy, and live life to the fullest. God Bless each of you!
